What a great way to spend a few hours of quality family time. Try kayaking on Kaneohe Bay. For our family outing we rented kayaks from Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps Base. (Must have access to the base to rent here). We sat Mikko-Dakota comfortably in the middle of a two person kayak. We had room for gear, snacks, and of all things tractors. A must for a 2 1/2 year old toddler.

Check the tide schedule and hit the mini sandbar for lunch, snorkeling or to just stop and admire the views. Be ready with your camera as you kayak for you will not be kayaking alone. Our little bald honu friends will be swimming along with you. Not just a few.. many many. My cell phone was not fast enough to capture our honu friends. Well I do still have my memory, right?

Remember to check the weather and the currents. You do not want to get stuck after a few hours of paddling having try and fight gusty winds and currents. Trust me when I say this!!!!! I learned my lesson!

A few items to remember:

1. bring sunscreen
2. plenty of water
3. snacks
4. hat for the little one
5. camera ( of course I would put this one)
6. mind the time, weather, currents
7. Don't hit the coral reefs with your paddles nor step on it if you are snorkeling!
8. Do not touch the Honu. They are endangered species.
9. Have fun and watch your kids take it all in
